So personally, I like to call Miyama “a hidden gem of Kyoto.”

A road bike resting under pink cherry blossoms, inviting visitors to enjoy a scenic spring cycling tour in Japan.

Miyama is located in the central part of Kyoto Prefecture, and it is made up of many small villages along the Yura River.

This place is famous for its many traditional thatched-roof houses and also for its “SATOYAMA” culture, where people live in harmony with nature.
I’ll explain more about SATOYAMA later.

The total area of Miyama is about 340 square kilometers.
I think it is quite large, but only around 3,000 people live here. So here, there is much more nature than people.
If you don’t see many people during our trip, don’t worry — that’s completely normal here.

Hello, I’m your local cycling guide in Miyama, Kyoto.

I run Peaceful Cycling Tour to share the quiet beauty of Miyama with visitors from around the world. This area is known for its thatched-roof houses, clear rivers, green mountains, and peaceful satoyama landscapes.

My tour is not about speed or distance. It is about enjoying the countryside slowly, meeting local scenery, and feeling the calm rhythm of rural Japan.

I look forward to cycling with you in Miyama.
